Shopping with Hudson

This morning the sun was shining and my daughter was needing to get out of the house.  So we packed up Hud Bud and went to IKEA.  I had never been to an IKEA store before, so it was a good adventure.  I wanted to get a step stool for their kitchen because for some reason, their microwave is on top of the refrigerator and it’s a tricky reach.  My son-in-law asked us to pick up a contraption for one of their kitchen cupboards – some kind of slide out rack to hold pot and pan lids.

Hudson was pretty excited to put on his bear suit and see the world.

My daughter and I enjoyed strolling through the displays.

Hudson slept the whole time.  But we checked on him every 2 minutes.

 I found a clock I really liked.

We picked up a small light for the nursery.

I insisted on getting this tray for when they eat in the living room.

She saw a great price on a food chopper, so into the cart it went.

When we pulled up to their house I said, “We forgot the step stool.”

She said, “We forgot the cupboard thing, too.”

I said, “Welcome to motherhood.”

  1. I laughed out loud at this–it’s so very true–welcome to motherhood, Katie! 🙂 I asked my doctor when this so-called “mommy brain” would go away, and she said not for a long, long time. 🙂

I also just love your previous post. In fact, it brought tears to my eyes–Dinah, your help will never be forgotten and your special bond with Hudson will be so strong because you spent this time with him. Makes me so thankful for all the help we got from my parents too! You are blessed and such a blessing!

  2. This is too funny and all too true! In fact, I still find that I always start a new list of things I need (or forgot) as soon as I get back from shopping! I think it all started when Elli was born…. But I see that Katie starts this new list while at the checkout! She is obviously a much better mother than I! Heehee!

Thanks for the photos and the stories! A wonderful new life is beginning to unfold!

  3. Thanks for the laugh! Definitely much needed. Hope you’re enjoying your precious time wtih the “new” family. Love seeing the pictures!

  4. Hey Honey…you know I love it when you overlook things from time to time…I feel there’s hope for me when that happens. 🙂
